Travels from 1993. The revolution had hapened 4 years prior and Romanians told us about with pride not hesitating to compare it with French revolution 200 years ago. For this reason, it's easy to see why for 200 years Romania had looked up to France. Romania is often said to be a latin island in the middle of a slavic sea.

All tryed to forget the authoritarian regime of Ceausescu. Meanwhile with a difference between young and old generation : the former were in love with liberty and the later, faced with the difficult reality of daily life, still held a certain nostalgia for communism. Still, all around, you could come across Romanians proudly wearing shirt with the American flag.
